The Circus
A friend I've made in Las Vegas offered to try to get a popular performance. His wife performs in the "Ka" by the famous Cirque du Soleil. This particular shows has performers and acts from all over the world, fantastic sound and light technology, and involves a lot of vertical movement. This is a picture of some of the platforms that the performers act on.
These are pictures of my friend's wife when she is in costume and make-up for a performance. The little girl holding her hand in the bottom photo is their daughter. She is five and loves ballet. She wants to be a dancer like her mom when she grows up.
Here is a short video showing some of what they do in their performance.

So this weekend we are helping out at a girls' gymnastic competition! We wrap ankles, supply bags of ice, and examine anyone whose been hurt. For example, one girl landed wrong so we did some tests on her knee to see if she needed to go to the doctor or not (she was okay).
There are over 2,600 girls competing! They come from all over. I've worked with gymnasts from California, Louisiana, Nevada, and Canada (but didn't think to start asking where they were from until near the end).
A couple of the girls I already knew from the clinic. The physical therapists I work with knew several of the other girls and their coaches. Its a dangerous sport but these are tough girls! The physical therapist I work with, Mike, used to work with professional basketball players and he said that the girls (most of whom are around Heidi's and Jackson's ages) are a lot tougher.

Kelsi and Michael's Wedding
Hey, Kiddos! Last Friday was Kelsi's wedding. Thursday I flew up to Idaho. There were some problems with two of the planes I was supposed to fly on so it took a long time. I also discovered that my suit had been ruined so I had to hurry and find a new one and get it sewn to fit me. I was very lucky and found a nice lady willing to stay late so that I could wear my new suit to the wedding. My new suit is grey with stripes. I think it looks very nice.
Friday morning we went to the Idaho Falls temple for the wedding. After entering the temple we had to take off our shoes before entering the room were Kelsi and Michael would be married. Michael and all of the family are cowboys so there were a lot(!) of cowboy boots.
The wedding was very nice. The person who married them was my old stake president. Kelsi was very happy and cried through most of the wedding. She had to wipe the tears off her face before she would kiss Michael.
After the wedding there were a lot of pictures taken then we went to the church were Michael's aunt and uncle live for lunch. The food was very good. We took turns telling embarrassing stories about when Kelsi and Michael were little. They kissed a lot. (yuck!)
Then we went out to Howe for the Reception. I was in charge of greeting people at the door. A lot of people came to congratulate Kelsi and Michael. They got a lot of presents. Part way through the reception we snuck outside and decorated their car. We used a special kind of paint to put a lot of hearts, Xs, Os, and love messages on their car. After decorating the car, we went back inside in time to see them cut the cake (It was a very big cake with three layers, each a different flavor).
Sunday I flew back down here to Las Vegas. Vegas has a LOT of lights. It looked very pretty from the air.
Today (Monday) I took a wrong turn on my way to work and got lost. I ended up in the wrong part of Las Vegas. The traffic was really bad. Someone had lost a wheel and cars kept almost getting in an accident avoiding the tire. I arrived at work 10 min late. Work was good today. We were very busy but I knew what the Physical Therapist wanted me to do so I was able to take care of the patients while he was on a phone call and when he was busy other patients.
Miss you guys and hope you are doing well.
Love, Dad

Hey, kiddos!
I'm still doing fine. The weather down here in Vegas is amazing! Always sunny and warm. My roommates are used to the heat so they have the heat in the house turned up but I've shut the heating vent in my room and always have the window open to make it cool enough to be comfortable.
Grass is rare down here. For example, my landlord has a tiny little patch of lawn about the size of Heidi's room. The rest of his yard consists of an arrangement of different sizes and colors of rocks. Their is a large park across the street with a lot of long meandering walking trails with heat-resistant shrubs and bushes, no grass, and lots of rocks. Not the type of park I'm used to.
There are palm trees everywhere. Here is a photo behind the physical therapy clinic. The green "grass" you see is actually a type of carpet which you can use outside.
I hope you are doing well. It was great to talk to you yesterday.I keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

So I made it safely to Las Vegas! Friday night after you went to sleep I drove down to Beaver Dam where Grandpa and Grandma Gneiting have there new house. They were still in Idaho but I had a key so I was able to get in. One of the rooms had photos of Jackson and Heidi on the wall so I slept in there.
After getting a few hours sleep I got back on the road and continued toward Las Vegas. I crossed into a different time zone along the way so had to turn my clocks back an hour.
Las Vegas is in the desert. I didn't see any animals and most of the plants are small bushes or cactuses. You can see in this photo that when enough cactuses grown close enough together it looks kind of like a forest.
I start working at the clinic tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.
